Telecom Union Faces Membership Test in 21-Month Strike

About 1,800 workers at cable and internet provider Spectrum have been on strike for nearly two years in New York. Now those employees will be asked whether they still want their union to represent them.

Ballots in the election will be sent Jan. 18, and the National Labor Relations Board will tally the votes on Feb. 21, according to the NLRB’s website. If the decertification vote is successful, it will remove the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 3 as the bargaining agent for the workers at Spectrum, a brand of Charter Communications.
