Tech Groups Urge Caution on Massachusetts AI, ‘Bossware’ Bills

Massachusetts lawmakers are considering a sweeping batch of proposals to regulate artificial intelligence tools, including a “bossware” bill that’s similar to a measure nearing passage in California.

The Massachusetts proposal (S35 / H77) focused on algorithmic management of workers would broadly restrict employers’ use of automated decision systems and the ways they collect and use employee data via electronic monitoring.
