Tech Giants Press Congress to Pass Protections for Dreamers

Amazon.com Inc., Uber Technologies Inc., Meta Platforms Inc., and other corporations are calling on Congress to pass permanent protections for more than 600,000 undocumented immigrants known as dreamers, who were brought to the US as children.

Wednesday’s letter comes as advocates mark the 10th anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which the Obama administration established in 2012 to offer dreamers relief from deportation as well as work authorization. In the missive, the companies told congressional leaders that there is an urgent need for long-term certainty and stability for DACA recipients.
