The International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York announced Jan. 14 that they have entered into an agreement to end more than 25 years of federal oversight of the union (United States v. Teamsters, S.D.N.Y., 88-cv-04486, proposed agreement filed 1/14/15).
The agreement, which the parties said is likely to be formally approved at a Feb. 11 hearing by Judge Loretta A. Preska of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, effectively would replace a 1989 consent decree under which the union has been operating. ...
