Teamsters Re-Elect Trump Ally O’Brien as General President (1)

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters voted to re-elect Sean O’Brien as its general president during the union’s convention in Las Vegas Tuesday.

O’Brien, who has worked closely with the Trump administration and the Republican party in the last year, was re-elected with a resounding majority of the 1,572 delegates present at the convention.

His only opponent, Richard Hooker Jr. from a Philadelphia local, received 46 votes, not enough to put him on the ballot. Hooker, along with the candidate for general secretary-treasurer John Palmer, ran to the left of O’Brien and the establishment Teamsters officials.
