Teamsters Press Biden on Union Bill as He Seeks Endorsement (2)

Teamsters leadership pitched President Joe Biden on stalled legislation to ease labor organizing in a closed-door meeting Tuesday as the president sought the union’s endorsement.

In a roundtable at the union’s Capitol Hill headquarters, the Teamsters told Biden that it takes newly won unions far too long to negotiate a first contract—more then a year—and urged the president to make sure that lucrative government contracts don’t go to “bad employers,” Teamsters President Sean O’Brien told reporters. The president touted his pro-labor record—including a rescue for faltering Teamsters pensions—to contrast himself with former President Donald Trump.
