A Teamsters local in New York City claimed victory in a public campaign to save the jobs of 40 workers locked out in July by an office furniture supplier where they’d had union representation for more than 50 years.
Members of Teamsters Local 814 Aug. 30 approved an agreement with Waldner’s Business Environments Inc. that calls for the company to use unionized delivery and warehouse subcontractors that have hired the locked-out workers, a union spokesman told Bloomberg BNA. Local 814 accused Waldner’s of using nonunion subcontractors to replace union members in the lockout, the union said.
