Target Defeats Ex-Workers’ Bid to Certify Classes in Wage Suit

Two former Target Corp. workers failed in their bid to pursue a class action on behalf of multiple groups of employees who allegedly received inadequate pay for missed breaks or having to work before and after their shifts.

None of the eight proposed classes satisfy requirements under federal civil procedure rules for certification, including that the members share common issues of law or fact, Judge Jesus G. Bernal said in an order docketed Feb. 20 in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
