Swift Truckers’ $7.2 Million Wage Settlement Affirmed on Appeal

Swift Transportation Co. of Arizona LLC and truck drivers who say it owes California workers unpaid wages defeated an objector’s challenge to their more than $7.2 million settlement.

A district court didn’t abuse its discretion in approving the deal, which includes approximately $1.8 million in attorneys’ fees, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said in an unpublished opinion. The appeals court rejected the objector’s allegations of collusion between the trucking company and the workers who led the suit.
