Supreme Court Declines New Mexico Nuclear Waste Storage Case

The US Supreme Court on Monday declined to review a whether an anti-nuclear nonprofit can challenge the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s license for a temporary nuclear waste storage site in New Mexico.

The Trump administration has been pushing for more nuclear development to meet energy demand—in part exasperated by artificial intelligence growth—in addition to promoting fossil fuels. The US recently awarded $800 million to Holtec and the Tennessee Valley Authority to build small reactors for nuclear projects.
