Supreme Court Seeks US View in Pipeline Payment Case (Correct)

The US Supreme Court is seeking views from the US solicitor general in a case from North Dakota ranchers seeking answers on how compensation should be handled in condemned land cases involving a natural gas pipeline project.

WBI Energy Transmission Inc., which transports and stores natural gas, filed the condemnation action for land along its pipeline because one family refused the company’s offer to buy their ranchland in McKenzie County, N.D.

After three years of litigation, the parties settled on compensation for the easement but couldn’t agree on attorneys’ fees.
