A worker advocacy group in Washington, D.C., helped launch a two-day strike at twin ports in California today and unveiled a telephone hotline for employees of federal contractors to report alleged labor violations.
The actions were planned to coincide with the effective date of President Barack Obama’s Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces executive order, which requires federal contractors to report certain labor law violations. That order was put on hold Oct. 24 as part of litigation to block it.
