Adult entertainers who offer live online performances on Streamate.com are the video streaming platform’s employees under state law, even though they aren’t under the test used for federal wage disputes, a New Jersey district judge said.
The economic realities of performers’ relationship with streaming platform operator ICF Technology Inc. and parent Accretive Technology Group Inc. make them independent contractors under federal law, Judge Madeline Cox Arleo of the US District Court for the District of New Jersey said in granting the companies summary judgment on that portion of the class action.
