The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration has brought fines against two Georgia-based stone product manufacturers over failing to protect workers from silica exposure.
The agency, part of the US Department of Labor, announced more than $42,000 in penalties against Stone Atlanta Countertops Inc. and more than $73,000 in penalties against GT Stone Granite LLC on Thursday.
OSHA investigators found the companies failed to implement a written exposure-control plan for silica and have a written hazard communication program for hazardous materials.
