Stellantis Hits Back at UAW Over Broken Labor Deal Claims (1)

Stellantis NV shot back at criticism leveled by the United Auto Workers that the company is shirking parts of its 2023 labor agreement onnew electric vehicle jobs.

In an email Monday, Stellantis North America COO Carlos Zarlenga told UAW President Shawn Fain that market volatility has made it harder for the company to stick to its electric vehicle commitments—and that economic adjustments don’t violate the deal.

The response signals that Stellantis doesn’t plan on bending to the UAW’s demands any time soon, even in the face of a second worker strike in two years.
