Stellantis Faces Labor Tensions in Italy as Protests Grow (1)

Thousands of Italians joined striking workers at Stellantis NV near the carmaker’s base in the north of the country, piling pressure on management in anticipation of a new round of job cuts.

Around 12,000 people, including auto workers, local politicians and citizens, turned out in Turin to call for job security and assurances on the future of the historic Mirafiori plant and other sites across the country, according to the Fiom union.

The demonstrations come amid a sharp decline in vehicle production at Stellantis NV, the multinational that comprises both Italy’s Fiat and France’s Peugeot.
