Staten Island Amazon Worker Alleges Race Bias in Virus Plan (1)

Black and Hispanic line workers at an Amazon.com Inc fulfillment center on Staten Island faced unequal protections from Covid-19 compared to the center’s mostly White managers, a federal lawsuit filed Thursday in New York says.

Christian Smalls, who is Black, started as an entry-level employee but held a management associate position at the center during the early days of the pandemic, according to the suit. He supervised roughly 60 mostly minority line workers at the facility, the suit says.
