State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. convinced a federal judge to toss part of a proposed class action alleging the company systematically discriminates against its Black agents, but the bulk of the lawsuit survived.

Judge Lindsay Jenkins, a Biden appointee in the Northern District of Illinois, dismissed a claim that the company violated Title VII of the 1965 Civil Rights Act based on racially biased discipline. Plaintiff Vvonaka Richardson failed to sufficiently allege she was personally subjected to discriminatory discipline, Jenkins ruled Wednesday.
