Starbucks Website Illegally Promised Perks to Nonunion Workers

A federal labor board judge ordered Starbucks Corp. to take down postings on its website after ruling they illegally pledged benefits to workers in exchange for voting against unionizing.

The posts on Starbucks’ corporate website included statements that promised or implied benefits to its employees to dissuade them from joining the union, National Labor Relations Board Judge Donna Dawson held Monday.

The posts informed workers nationwide that it was “improving accountability,” and “redesigning stores to be safer.” It also featured a graphic of two paths, one where baristas could work “side-by-side” with the company and another where employees sat ...
