Starbucks Union Gets Shot at Challenging Close Election Loss

Starbucks Workers United’s objections to an election loss at a café in a Seattle suburb will be weighed by a regional National Labor Relations Board official thanks to a board ruling.

NLRB Regional Director Ronald Hooks in Seattle erred by dismissing the objections as untimely because the union filed its brief by the deadline that the region provided, even though the office gave the wrong date, a divided NLRB panel held Thursday.

The 11-10 vote against union representation was tallied Jan. 8, 2024, so under agency rules the objections were due five business days later, which was Jan. 16. But ...
