Starbucks Corp. managers at a Missouri cafe must cease telling workers they cannot record unionization conversations, though they will not be required to bargain with the baristas’ union, as the company’s actions didn’t warrant overturning an election, a National Labor Relations Board judge said.
Baristas at a Saint Ann, Mo. cafe alleged they faced unlawful threats and discriminatory workplace rules from management when they petitioned to unionize in December 2023, but NLRB Administrative Law Judge Andrew Gollin on Monday held that Starbucks only violated the law by prohibiting them from recording.
