Starbucks Illegally Fired Union Supporters, NLRB Judge Rules (1)

Starbucks Corp. illegally fired a pair of workers from a Portland, Ore., store for their union activities and sympathies, a National Labor Relations Board judge ruled.

The coffee giant also committed other unfair labor practices related to enforcing the company’s dress code in a discriminatory way against union supporters and blocking union-related information from a community bulletin board at the store, Administrative Law Judge Sharon Steckler said in her Monday decision.

Starbucks has been found to have violated federal labor law in about three dozen cases decided by NLRB ALJs thus far. Roughly 70 complaints against the company remain ...
