Starbucks Drivers Seek Pay for Off-Duty Company Cellphone Calls

Starbucks Corp. and a subsidiary juice company face a California overtime class action claiming that the companies failed to pay delivery drivers for time spent taking company calls before and after their shifts (Savinovich v. Starbucks Corp., Cal. Super. Ct., No. 17-02050, complaint filed 8/7/17).

Walter Savinovich, a former Starbucks employee in California, seeks to represent a class of drivers who allegedly were given cellphones by the company and were required to communicate with supervisors outside of their scheduled shifts.
