Starbucks’ Civility Rule Violates Labor Law, NLRB Judge Says (1)

Starbucks Corp.’s civility rule in its employee handbook violated federal labor law because workers would read it as discouraging union activity, a National Labor Relations Board judge ruled.

Starbucks must rescind its “How We Communicate” policy, notify workers that the policy was illegal, and distribute that notice to all workers in the US via text message, social media postings, and other electronic means, Administrative Law Judge Michael Rosas said in a Thursday ruling.
