A New York legal staffing firm has reached a settlement with the Department of Justice over claims it refused to hire non-U.S. citizens and dual citizens for a document review project at a Washington, D.C.-based law firm.
Chancery Staffing Solutions LLC, doing business as TransPerfect Staffing Solutions, will pay $27,000 in civil penalties and provide back pay to workers affected by the hiring practices, according to the settlement agreement. The announcement comes after the department’s Office of the Chief Administrative Hearing Officer denied the company’s motion to dismiss the claims in September.
