Staffing Firm Settles Disability Discrimination Suit for $77,500

Elwood Staffing Services of Orem, Utah, will pay $77,500 to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit, the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced Monday.

The company allegedly failed to provide reasonable accommodations to an applicant who only has one hand, and then rescinded her conditional job offer because of her disability and/or her need for an accommodation, the agency said. Such alleged conduct violates the Americans with Disabilities Act.

In addition to paying damages, Elwood Staffing Services agreed to revise its anti-discrimination policies, provide training to staff, and provide reports on training, discrimination complaints, and any revisions to policies or procedures ...
