St. Paul, Minn., has joined the growing list of cities to embrace a higher minimum wage, with the city and large businesses required to ramp up to a $15 hourly rate by July 1, 2022.
Minnesota’s second-largest city is providing a longer compliance runway for smaller employers, but all businesses in St. Paul are required to hit the $15 target by July 1, 2027. The city’s minimum wage would be indexed to inflation in subsequent years. St. Paul’s plan doesn’t include a so-called “tip credit,” which would have required bartenders and food service workers to count tips toward hourly wages. ...
