SSA Gets Black Attorney’s Race, Gender Bias Claims Pared Back

The Social Security Administration partially defeated a lawsuit alleging it discriminated against a Black supervisory attorney because of his race and gender, and retaliated against him for speaking up about workplace bias.

The worker failed to show he faced gender bias or a hostile work environment, and he waited too long to raise some of his allegations, the US District Court for the District of Colorado said, granting partial summary judgment in favor of SSA.

But plaintiff John Sheil can move forward with parts of his race discrimination and retaliation claims, the order added.
