A sporting goods retailer must recognize and negotiate with a union that lost an election because the company violated labor law in the run-up to the vote, a National Labor Relations Board judge ruled.

Sportsman’s Warehouse Inc.’s violations during the critical pre-election period included threats to close an Arizona store if the employees there voted to unionize, “which are amongst the most flagrant of possible unfair labor practices,” Administrative Law Judge John Giannopoulos held Tuesday.
