Southwest’s One-Cent Settlement Offer Fails to Moot DEI Case

Southwest Airlines Co.'s one cent settlement offer to a conservative organization suing over the airline’s travel award program for Hispanic students was insufficient to make the case moot, a federal court said.

Because the American Alliance for Equal Rights flatly rejected the offer and Southwest continues to deny liability, a live dispute still exists and the court retains jurisdiction over the suit, Judge Sidney A. Fitzwater of the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas said Dec. 6.
