Southwest Underfunds Service Members’ Benefits, Pilot Says

Southwest Airlines Inc. violates pilots’ military service civil rights when it fails to continue benefit contributions while they’re on military leave, according to a lawsuit filed July 14 in California (Huntsman v. Southwest Airlines Co., N.D. Cal., No. 4:17-cv-03972, complaint filed 7/14/17).

The airline doesn’t contribute to a pension fund for pilot Jayson Huntsman and other service members while they’re away on Air Force reserve duty, according to the federal court complaint.
