Southern Cities Like Dallas, Houston Snagged the Most New Jobs

Southern US cities led the way in job creation last year, according to new data released Wednesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Employment in the Dallas metro area surged by 5.9% in 2022, while Jacksonville, Florida, Houston and Raleigh, North Carolina also posted job growth of more than 5%, the BLS data show.

The 2022 numbers show how the long-term trend for US jobs to drift southwards has continued since the pandemic — but with some new twists.
