Sonderling Confirmed as No. 2 At DOL, Filling Out Top Leadership

The Senate confirmed Keith Sonderling to serve as deputy secretary of labor, rounding out top leadership at the agency tasked with enforcing federal minimum wage and workplace safety laws.

Senators voted 53-46 Wednesday to approve Sonderling’s nomination to the DOL’s second highest leadership position.

As deputy secretary Sonderling will oversee the agency’s workforce and day-to-day operations, which is currently undergoing a large-scale transition and reduction effort driven by the Department of Government Efficiency.
