Somalis Can Seek Work, Removal Protections Under TPS Extension

Somali nationals residing in the US as of Jan. 11 can begin applying for work permits and removal protection under an extension of a Temporary Protected Status designation from the Department of Homeland Security.

About 2,200 Somalis will be newly eligible for those protections, according to a notice scheduled to be published in Monday’s Federal Register.

The renewed protections for Somalis were first announced by DHS in January.
