SkyWest Flight Attendants Denied Class Status in Wage Lawsuit

Flight attendants suing SkyWest Inc. and subsidiary SkyWest Airlines Inc. for allegedly depriving them of pay for work performed before and after air travel failed to secure class treatment for their claims.

The workers sought to certify classes under California and Washington state law and subclasses for those based in Los Angeles and San Francisco. But the record “decisively rebuts” their argument that SkyWest has a common policy requiring them to work before their shifts officially start, and lack of commonality dooms their bid for class certification, the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois said.
