Skyline National Goes to Trial Over Executive’s Age Bias Suit

Parkway Acquisition Corp., doing business as Skyline National Bank, is headed to trial where a jury will decide whether a former senior vice president was terminated due to unlawful age discrimination or performance issues, a North Carolina federal judge ruled.

Bennie Robert Anderson served as senior vice president at Skyline’s Boone, N.C., branch from 2018 to 2020 after Skyline merged with his previous employer, Great State Bank. He alleges his supervisors subjected him to age-related discrimination and issued subjective performance reviews despite meeting performance benchmarks. Anderson was 73 years old when he sued in 2020.
