Senators Call for More Security at Job Corps Centers

Two Republican senators sent a letter to Labor Secretary Thomas Perez Sept. 18 calling for the Labor Department to bolster security at Job Corps facilities following two homicides this year.

“Recent reports of violence suggest there are major problems in Job Corps’ ability to keep its students and staff safe,” Sen. Lamar Alexander (Tenn.) and Sen. Johnny Isakson (Ga.) wrote. Alexander chairs the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, and Isakson chairs the Subcommittee on Employment and Workplace Safety.
