Senate lawmakers May 14 for the second consecutive day advanced legislation (H.R 3474) intended to spur the hiring of military veterans, approving a motion to proceed on the bill in a voice vote.
The Hire More Heroes Act would permit employers to hire veterans who already have government-provided health insurance coverage without counting those workers toward the number needed to invoke the Affordable Care Act’s health insurance mandate.
The mandate, which has not yet gone into effect, generally requires employers with 50 or more full-time workers to provide affordable health insurance to its employees.
