A Republican-led Senate committee abruptly canceled the confirmation hearing for Paul Ingrassia, President Donald Trump’s nominee for Special Counsel, as GOP support for him began to falter.
The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee pulled Ingrassia from a panel of nominees appearing before lawmakers on Thursday, as some senators began raising concerns over his history of making incendiary remarks online and his support for conspiracies about the 2020 election.
Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), a critical swing vote in the Senate who is not running for re-election, said he won’t support Ingrassia.
