The Senate Appropriations Committee advanced a fiscal 2026 funding bill for the US Labor Department that rebuffs President Donald Trump’s plans to end some job training programs and make large spending cuts to enforcement subagencies.
The panel voted 26-3 Thursday to approve a package to fund the departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education through September 2026, sending it to the full Senate for consideration.
The package would provide $13.7 billion for the DOL in fiscal year 2026, a nearly 3% boost from the $13.3 billion enacted by Congress for the agency in 2025.
