SEIU-UHW Members Ratify Contract With Kaiser Permanente for 45,000 Workers

Members of the Service Employees International Union-United Healthcare Workers West have ratified by 85 percent a three-year national collective bargaining contract with Kaiser Permanente covering some 45,000 SEIU-UHW-represented employees, the union announced June 8.

The labor contract covers health care employees at 32 major facilities of health maintenance organization in California effective Oct. 1, 2012. It will replace the two-year contract set to expire Sept. 30.

SEIU-UHW is the first union within the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions to vote on the tentative agreement reached in May covering nearly 100,000 employees represented by 28 unions in nine states (92 DLR A-12, 5/11/12
