SEIU Local in Nevada Sues to End Trusteeship

A Service Employees International Union local in Nevada wants a judge to remove it from a trusteeship imposed by the organization’s national headquarters (Garcia v. Serv. Emp. Int’l Union, D. Nev., No. 2:17-cv-01340, complaint filed 5/10/17).

Raymond Garcia, representing members of SEIU Nevada Local 1107, argues that the international union used coercive tactics to place the local under trusteeship, Michael Mcavoyamaya, the attorney for the workers, told Bloomberg BNA May 18.
