The Service Employees International Union in Chicago has reached tentative collective bargaining agreements with two employer associations covering 9,885 janitors at downtown and suburban Chicago commercial office buildings, a union representative told Bloomberg BNA April 6.
SEIU Local 1 reached a tentative three-year pact April 1 with Building Owners and Managers Association/Chicago that, if ratified by union members, would cover 5,685 janitors who work in office buildings in downtown Chicago, Nell McNamara, a spokeswoman for SEIU Local 1 said. Eligible SEIU members are to vote on the proposed contract April 9.
