Sedgwick Claims Management Services Inc.'s $5.6 million settlement with employees who say they are owed compensation for overtime moved another step closer as a magistrate judge told a Florida federal court that the deal should be approved.
The employees say the company improperly classified them as exempt from overtime, and it failed to keep records required by the Fair Labor Standards Act.
However, neither party formally tracked the hours the plaintiffs worked, and Sedgwick argues some time estimates contain discrepancies, according to the report and recommendation in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
