Seattle Mariners Retail Staff Set to Vote on Ousting Union

Retail employees for the Seattle Mariners will vote later this month on whether to oust the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union after a federal labor board official said the election can go forward.

A National Labor Relations Board regional director in Seattle approved the decertification election in a decision Monday, finding that UFCW and the company that operates the Mariners failed to properly notify the agency and the workers of the union’s recognition as their bargaining representative. The election is set for May 30.
