Ride-sharing drivers in Seattle are to be paid a minimum wage under a measure approved Sept. 29 by the city council.
Ordinance (CB 119687) is to take effect Jan. 1. The ordinance was sent to Mayor Jenny Durkan (D), who is expected to sign the measure.
“The minimum compensation standard will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2021, and be enforced by the Office of Labor Standards,” Durkan said in a statement. “Specifically, the ordinance guarantees that drivers will be paid at least $0.56 per minute and $1.33 per mile driven while transporting passengers.”
