Seasonal H-2B Guestworker Visa Cap Reached for Winter Hiring

All available seasonal worker visas have been claimed for the first half of the upcoming fiscal year, US Citizenship and Immigration Services announced Wednesday.

USCIS said it received enough petitions to reach the 33,000 visa cap on H-2B visas for jobs starting before April 1, 2023. The final date for receipt of petitions under the cap was Sept. 12.

Under the H-2B program, employers can hire foreign guestworkers for seasonal, non-agricultural jobs. Congress has set a 66,000 annual limit on visas, with half of those allocated for employment starting between Oct. 1 and March 31 and half for jobs starting ...
