A former medical scribe with ScribeAmerica LLC filed a lawsuit in federal court Wednesday, alleging that the company should’ve paid employees for after-hours study time.
Julia Garfield, who worked at ScribeAmerica for several month in 2022, sued in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Garfield alleges that during training, instructors routinely encouraged trainees to study and complete class assignments after hours. Garfield said in her complaint that she worked 10-20 additional hours per week on training outside of class.
