SBC Not Required for Medicare Advantage, FAQ Says

An employer that offers a Medicare Advantage plan as part of its group health coverage is not required to provide a summary of benefits and coverage for the Medicare Advantage plan, according to guidance posted on the Labor Department’s website Aug. 7.

Medicare Advantage benefits are Medicare benefits funded by the Medicare Trust Fund and are not health insurance benefits for which a summary of benefits and coverage is required for compliance with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the agencies said in guidance in the form of a frequently asked question and answer.
