San Francisco Retail, Eatery, Gig Workers to Get Virus Gear

San Francisco retail, restaurant, and on-demand delivery services must provide personal protective equipment and reimburse gig workers for cleaning supplies during the coronavirus pandemic under new emergency legislation.

Third-party delivery services, including Postmates, DoorDash, and Instacart, would be covered under the labor-backed measure that the San Francisco Board of Supervisors unanimously approved Tuesday. The proposed ordinance, co-sponsored by nine members of the 11-member board, heads to Mayor London Breed who has 10 days to sign or veto the measure, or let it become an ordinance without her signature.
